Millington Lockwood Gets New CEO, Jonathan D. Epstein

Millington Lockwood, one of the region's oldest companies, is about to furnish itself with a new leader – only its sixth in the company's 136-year history.

The Cheektowaga-based provider of office, health care and educational furnishings said that its longtime president and CEO, Michael Bonitatibus, is planning to retire by year end, assuming an advisory role instead. He will be succeeded on Jan. 1, 2021, by Joseph Conley, its chief financial officer.

"I have known and worked closely with Joe for many years and believe he’s a natural choice to lead the company," Bonitatibus said. "He knows the company inside and out, having risen through the ranks which will make for a seamless transition. I am confident that Millington Lockwood will continue to grow and prosper under his leadership, building upon our strengths and embracing new opportunities.”

The locally owned company represents more than 100 furniture manufacturers, and is the exclusive distributor for Herman Miller in Western New York. It employs 75 full-time workers.

Most recently, the company created a new division, AMP Interior Construction, to offer customized, pre-manufactured interior designs made by DIRTT Environmental Solutions.

"My new role comes at a time of change – the pandemic, global economic recovery and an uncertain business climate – yet I am confident that the Millington Lockwood team has the agility and resilience to continue the legacy we have built over the last 136 years,” Conley said.
